FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING IN EDUCATION "My favorite part about being in music education is the transformative power that it has on our day to day life. Making music is inherently human and we're all capable of doing it. It's effect on who we are as people is tremendous. I love being able to create safe spaces for my students where they get to really shine and be who they are unapologetically — l often find that music is the best way to do that. I also really enjoy the "Ohhh... I get it!" or "aha" moments. I's is so satisfying to watch the growth and progress that we go through as learners especially when someone finally gets something that's been giving them trouble and then it click."

CIRCLE OF LEADERSHIP SPOTLIGHT Craig Beardsley 2014 HP CIRCLE OF LEADERSHIP INDUCTEE HP is thrilled to congratulate 2014 Circle of Leadership Recipient, Craig Beardsley, on the news that he will be inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame on October 15, 2022! The Circle of Leadership is an HP tradition established in 2006 that honors alumni and community members, celebrating their exemplary accomplishments. A former competitive swimmer, his achievements include but are not limited to: holding the World and American Record in the 200m butterfly between 1980-1983, winning Gold at the Pan American Games in 1979, a two-time NCAA champion and receiving 8 All-American honors swimming for the Florida Gators at the University of Florida. Craig also made the 1980 US Olympic Team and was expected to win the 200m butterfly before the US boycotted the Summer Games in Moscow that year, denying him of the opportunity. Beardsley continues to make an impact with his involvement in Swim Across America, a non-profit organization that raises funds for cancer research through swimming events and has helped raise over $100 million since 1987. We could not be more proud to call Craig Beardsley a Circle of Leadership member. Congratulations on your induction and looking forward to watching how you continue to 'Lead the Way' in the future!
