The Softball Spartans closed out their regular season with back-to-back games this week, showing grit, focus, and teamwork. On Monday, the team played at home vs. Old Tappan and it was a nail-biter from start to finish. Old Tappan came out strong with 4 runs in the top of the 1st, but the Spartans answered right back with 3 of their own. The teams traded runs again in the second, keeping the score close. Paige Radoian pitched an excellent game, keeping us in it with confidence and control. In the final innings, Paige Palmer came in as our closer and shut things down quickly, but the Spartans couldn’t push across another run. Despite some tough calls, the girls held their heads high, and the final score was a close 7–6. On Tuesday, HP played away at Haworth and the Spartans came back fired up. Olive Schryver pitched the full game and held Haworth to just 2 runs. Our offense exploded with smart, aggressive base running, racking up 21 runs in total. This was a dominant win to end the regular season on a high note. The team finished the regular season in 1st place and are heading into the playoffs strong. Our first playoff game is Tuesday, May 27 at home.
