In sports news, The HP Spartans Girls Softball team had an incredible week, playing three games and coming out strong in each one. On Monday, the team traveled to Norwood and brought home a dominant 25-2 win. Wednesday’s home game against Haworth was another standout performance, with Paige Palmer leading HP on the mound, Paige Radoian blasting a 3-run homer in the 3rd inning, and Alyssa Criaris sealing the 15-1 victory with a game-ending diving catch with two outs and two on base. The Spartans wrapped up the week on Thursday with a rematch against Closter. This away game featured a near-perfect pitching rotation by Paige Palmer, Paige Radoian, and Olive Schryver. Leighton Schryver was solid (yet again) behind the plate, catching with confidence and helping shut down 2 Closter attempts to steal home thanks to excellent communication amongst the infield. There were also excellent plays in the infield by Quinn Hutchinson and Grace Jakubowyc at shortstop and 2nd base, and by Sammy Finer at 1st base. With sharp baserunning and aggressive fielding, the Spartans secured a 14-1 win to finish the week 3-0. We’re back in action on Tuesday, May 6th, with an away game at Northvale.

The Baseball Team had an outstanding week finishing with wins over Norwood and Haworth along with a tough loss to Closter. Michael Fernandez pitched a solid game and paired with quality defense behind him the Spartans beat Norwood 10-3. The team got their bats working against Haworth scoring 15 runs and defeating them 15-5. Ethan Strate dominated the Haworth offense on the mound, while Liam Donnelly and Matt Stout led the charge at the plate. The team finished off the week losing a challenging game to Closter 11-1. The game was highlighted by great defensive plays by Luke Pavone, while Julian Torrie came in clutch with an RBI double in the 3rd inning. The team's record sits at 2-2-1 and will hope to get back on track next week against Northvale.

WATER, WATER, WATER! As the weather is getting warmer, please remember to send your child with a reusable water bottle. The Main Office and Health Office are getting inundated with requests for water bottles, we can not keep enough on hand! Students who forget water have been receiving small cups to use at the fill stations.
