The HP Wrap Up - April 25, 2025

HP Community,

As we wrap up this week, we held our Art Show and Centennial Celebration on Tuesday evening. We had a tremendous community turnout. Thank you to our incredible Art Teachers, Ms. Pidane & Ms. DeBellis! Other evening highlights included the Jazz Band, grade level centennial projects, HP artifacts, Garden Club planting, 8th grade play preview and remarks by Mayor Chung!

Today, 6th graders returned from Fairview Lakes after three fun-filled days! Thank you to Mr. Herbert and our parent and teacher chaperones for helping to make the trip a success!

8th Grade Guys & Dolls Tickets are now available: hps.booktix.com.

Thursday was Take Your Child to Work Day! Many HP teachers and staff brought their children to work. It was great to have so many little spartans helping at HP.

In sports news, the Baseball Team opened their season with two well played games. Liam Donnelly, Luke Pavone, Bentley Paller, Matt Stout, Matt Goodman and Michael Fernandez all contributed hits during a 9-9 tie against Northvale on Tuesday. HP finished the week with a tough loss against Closter despite an excellent pitching performance by Ethan Strate and Owen Davis. The Spartans were flawless in the field led by multiple outstanding catches by Bentley Paller and Matt Stout. The team plays again on Monday against Norwood.

The HP Spartan Softball team kicked off the regular season this week with two exciting games. On Tuesday, they faced Northvale in the season opener. Olive and Leighton Schryver led the charge as our pitcher/catcher duo, with Olive holding it down on the mound for the first four innings and Leighton showing skill and hustle behind the plate for the whole game. Paige Radoian came in as our closer and pitched the final three innings, getting us out of a tense bases-loaded, two-out situation in the top of the 7th to seal the 5–2 win. Our offense was on fire with home runs from Alyssa Criaris and Grace Lynch. On Thursday, HP took on Closter, playing shorthanded and down four players. The team rose to the challenge, showing great teamwork, strong bats, and smart base running. Paige Radoian pitched the majority of the game, with Quinn Hutchinson stepping in as our closer. Though we fell 17–5, the effort and heart on the field were impressive. We finish our first week with a 1–1 record and a ton of promise for the season ahead. Go Spartans!

WATER, WATER, WATER! As the weather is getting warmer, please remember to send your child with a reusable water bottle. The Main Office and Health Office are getting inundated with requests for water bottles, we can not keep enough on hand! Students who forget water have been receiving small cups to use at the fill stations.

We’re excited to share that our popular Summer Escape camp is back again this year, running from August 4th–22nd, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
