The HP Wrap Up - January 17, 2025

HP Community,

As we wrap up this week at HP, a reminder school is closed on Monday, January 20th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., students have been and will continue to participate in lessons, activities, read-alouds and discussions around Dr. King, his work, message and legacy.

Interim reports for Trimester 2 are now available via the parent portal for students in grades 5-8. As a reminder, not all students receive interim reports.

Our annual 100th Day of School Food Drive kicks off on Tuesday, January 21st. Please see the below flyer with the needed items. Students also received a hard copy of the items on Thursday.

Please note that registration for Kindergarten is open. Please go to www.hpsd.org, select About Us and Admissions and be sure to select the 25-26 school year. Students must be 5 by October 1, 2025.

On Monday, our 8th graders made their first of three visits to the Hebrew Union Soup Kitchen in New York, NY. This is a long-standing HP service tradition.

The 3rd annual Barter Days is back, hosted by the Green Club. This is the perfect time to "recycle" a board game that is in working order. Please see the below flyer for more details!

Attention Parents/Guardians of 6th and 7th Graders: The 2025 Yearbook can now be ordered by any interested 6th and 7th grader. All orders should be sent back to the school ATTN: Ms. Pidane. Deadline to Order: Friday, January 31, 2025. NOTE: 8th graders DO NOT need to order a book. Questions: pidane@hpsd.org.

In yesterday's debate at Tenafly Middle School, the Harrington Park team had a strong showing. Great job to our first time debaters Janice Kim, Yuna Ong, Claire Park, Claire Ra, Sophia Lee, and Joy Kim. We look forward to our next debate at BCA in February. Way to go, HP!

Attention PreK to 5th grade students! Join the Class of 2025 for a night of fun, games, and creativity at Harrington Park School on Friday, January 31, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM! This event, hosted by our 8th graders and their parents, is the perfect opportunity for kids to enjoy. Parents, take a night off while your kids enjoy a safe, exciting evening with friends. We can’t wait to see you there! Click here: Registration For Kid's Night out

The HSA Spring Gala Fundraiser, “The HP Centennial Ball”, is just around the corner. All proceeds from this event and all fundraising directly benefit the Harrington Park School. Save the Date (MARCH 26th). On behalf of the HSA Board, we would like to say THANK YOU to all of our families, our volunteers, and to our community for helping to enrich the lives of our students! We hope to see you at the gala!

Please see the special Gala Contest below!

In sports news, The Girls Basketball Team defeated Closter this week for their 9th win this season. All the Spartans scored! Maddie Plescia led with 6 points, La'Ajah Grayson and Addison Beezer had 4, Paige Radoian had 3, Grace Lynch, Sammy Finer, Chloe Han, Charlotte Forma, Paige Palmer, Quinn Hutchinson, Eden Canarick, Sophie Donnelly, Kami Bird, Tierney Waldron, and Ayzah Malik all scored 2 points. The team will play again at home on Tuesday against undefeated Old Tappan!

The boys basketball team lost on Monday in their only game of the week. The Spartans were beaten by Closter in that matchup by the score of 55-40. In this high scoring battle our Spartans couldn't keep pace with the outstanding outside shooting of Closter. Our boys were paced by Sean Blanchard's 12 points. The team will have a busy week coming up with games on Tuesday at Old Tappan and at home on Wednesday against Norwood. The boys will also play away on Thursday in the first round of the playoffs. The opponent for that game has not yet been determined. Good luck next week boys!!!

Have a great long weekend HP!
