On Saturday, January 4th, the National Associate for Music Education (NAFME) held auditions for the North Jersey regional orchestra. Harrington Park was represented by six students, who competed against approximately 200 6-8 grade orchestral students representing all Northern NJ school districts. We are proud of all of our students who auditioned, and they each deserve praise for their hard work and determination. I would like to congratulate three of our students, Kayla Lee and Irene Kang, cello, and James Lehmann, bass, for having been selected as members of the prestigious Regions Orchestra.

The HSA Spring Gala Fundraiser, “The HP Centennial Ball”, is just around the corner. All proceeds from this event and all fundraising directly benefit the Harrington Park School. See the Save the Date ( MARCH 26th) flyer below with a snapshot of just some of the programs, experiences and technology that HSA provided with funds raised. None of this would be possible without your ongoing and generous support of our fundraisers and the countless hours our volunteers spend running them. On behalf of the HSA Board, we would like to say THANK YOU to all of our families, our volunteers, and to our community for helping to enrich the lives of our students! We hope to see you at the gala!

In sports news, the Girls Basketball Team won three games this week! They defeated Northvale, Haworth, and Demarest. Paige Palmer and Sophie Donnelly lead the team in scoring, with Kami Bird, Maddie Plescia, Quinn Hutchinson, Tierney Waldron, and Eden Canarick showing great offensive skills. Sammy Finer, La Ajah Grayson, Alyssa Criaris, Paige Radoian, Ayzah Malik, Grace Lynch, Chloe Han, Charlotte Forma, and Addison Beezer all contributed to the Spartan's scores and wins! The girls will play again on Monday at home against Closter!

The boys basketball team played 3 exciting games this week against Northvale, Haworth and Demarest. Although the Spartans lost the games this week, they were all very competitive and took the opponents to the wire in each of the games. The boys have greatly improved their offensive efficiency and defensive intensity since the start of the year and hope to make a nice run in the final few weeks of the season. In the Northvale and Demarest game Sean Blanchard led the team in scoring with 15 points in each game. Andre Robinson led all scorers against Haworth with a game high 16 points. The team will be in action again next Monday when they play after school at Closter.

PREK-2 FAMILIES - On January 30th at 6:30pm we will have a Family Literacy Night with read-alouds and crafts. Details and RSVP are linked here.
