I wanted to take a moment to thank the HP Community for the opportunity to serve as your Acting Superintendent. It has truly been an honor. I also want to thank Mr. Herbert & Ms. Wise for their seamless transition and tireless efforts over the last six months.    We welcome Mr. Conlon, the new Superintendent, to the HP School Community.    Warm Regards,    Jessica Nitzberg   zoom_out_map Late Spring HP Highlights Our Student Council finished up another strong year with a wide range of fundraising and school-based programs. A particular highlight this spring was the Scavenger Hunt hosted after school for students in grades 1-3! The 7th grade Elections for 23-24 Co-Presidents is taking place at HPS today. Stay tuned to hear the results!    Our Music Department presented a number of choral and instrumental concerts in May and June for family and friends. Led by Ms. Woods, Ms. Park and Mr. Daleus, our students did a phenomenal job! A big thanks to our Upper Band for performing at the Memorial Day Parade and Class of 2023 Graduation. Students also had the opportunity in May to perform in the High Note Music Festival and enjoy a trip to Great Adventure. We are always grateful to the HP Community for your support of the Arts and Music programs at HP.      We were pleased to host a successful Community Blood Drive in May. We are so appreciative for the HP staff and community members that came out to support the event. We look forward to this growing and being a yearly event!   zoom_out_map Looking Ahead Summer is always a very busy time at HP. A number of camps and programs run in the summer months all while we deep clean all classrooms, paint the K-1 wing and wax floors to prepare the facility for the return of students and staff in September!    Some timely summer facility projects include:    - An update and refresh to our existing exterior awning in the back of school.    -Through grant funding, we are making adjustments to all of the windows (46 total) in our 2nd & 3rd Grade tower to enhance safety mechanisms and usability.    -Upgrades and additions to water bottle filler stations. This summer work will increase the total number of bottle stations to seven throughout the building.    -Purchase and installation of an six additional Smart Boards for classroom use.    -Instillation of a new Big Gym Scoreboard - *Courtesy of donations by HP Rec Basketball & The HP5K.    -Replacement of one exterior door as a security enhancement.    -Completion of our two new Wellness Rooms. Stay tuned this summer on social media for updates!        Please note, the BOE and new Superintendent, Mr. Conlon, will communicate any plans moving forward for potential Referendum and Solar Projects.   zoom_out_map Celebrate! This Spring has been very busy at HP!    First, a tremendous congratulations to our 8th graders for their performance in Matilda Jr. in early May. This musical truly captured the spirit and heart of the Class of 2023. Graduation will be held on Tuesday, June 13th. This is a ticketed event. Other 8th grade events planned by our tremendous parent volunteers, as well as HP Staff, include a pool party, evening dance at the Old Tappan Manor, yearbook breakfast, Awards Night and the traditional Clap Out. We are so very proud of the 8th grade students and wish them much success and happiness in their future endeavors.    We wanted to wish all the best to some of our retiring and departing staff after many years of dedicated service to the HP School Community. Ms Corriston-Special Education (26 years), Ms. Dever-G&T (29 years), Ms. Turrin-Instructional Aide (18 years), Ms. Fredette-Grade 2 (18 years), Ms. McGinley-Kindergarten (12 years), Manju Srivastava-Lunch Aide (15.5 years) and Ms. Sabo who retired in January after 33.5 years!   zoom_out_map Stay Connected Don't forget to keep up with all HP happenings and including summer updates!
