Strategic Planning

testimage

Throughout the spring of 2024, the Harrington Park School District is excited to embark on a strategic planning process that will bring all members of our school community together to help craft a shared vision for our school district and develop the goals, objectives, and action plans that bring that vision to life.

The Strategic Planning process will allow us as a whole community to consider broad questions about the educational values our community holds dear, what the future will look like for our students beyond college, and how we can best prepare students for that future before turning to the more narrow question of how that should guide the work we do in the Harrington Park School district over the next few years. Through surveys, community sessions, and other activities, we will gather feedback and input from all stakeholders in the school community. This information will be used to help facilitate conversations about the future of the district and ultimately develop a Strategic Plan that will outline the key priorities and areas of focus for the Harrington Park School District over the next three years.

Below you will find more information about our Strategic Planning timeline, activities, and the different opportunities for members of our school community to participate in the development of the Harrington Park School District Strategic Plan. As we move through this timeline, the work we do at each stage will be posted here for our school community to view, even if you are unable to participate directly in the Strategic Planning community sessions.

Exploring the Big Questions: Dialogue & Conversations

Over the next three months, all school community members will have the opportunity to participate in Strategic Planning activities and surveys to provide feedback and input for the Strategic Plan. The most important of these activities and the heart of the Strategic Planning process will be a series of community sessions, each focusing on one or two "Big Questions":

  • Monday, 3/18 - What does the future hold for our students? Where is the Harrington Park School District today?

  • Thursday, 4/4 - Where do we see the Harrington Park School District in the future?

  • Tuesday, 5/14 - What are the most important areas for the Harrington Park School District to focus on and prioritize in order to achieve its goals?

June, July, & August

Developing, Presenting, & Adopting the HPSD Strategic Plan

As the school year comes to a close and we head into the summer, the administration and Board of Education will use the information gathered over the spring to develop a formal three-year Strategic Plan for Harrington Park School District.

The Strategic Plan will then be presented and formally adopted at our September Board of Education meeting. The first year of the action plan will inform our District Goals for the 2024-2025 school year, which will also be formally adopted at this meeting.

Following formal adoption, the Strategic Plan itself and the accompanying presentation will be shared with the school community and serve as a "North Star" for our work over the following three school years.
