•  DETERMINATION OF CLASSIFICATION "ELIGIBLE FOR SPEECH-LANGUAGE SERVICES"
     
    -referral, by parent or HPS staff member, is received by sls
     
    - pre-intervention process is initiated for referred student (sls classroom observation, recommendations, hearing screen results-nurse) 
     
    -signed parental permission is received for testing, if speech/language evaluation is recommended
     
    - formal and informal s/l  tests are administered
     
    -standardized test score results fall below the 10th percentile as compared to like-aged peers 
     
    -determination is made that educational performance in the classroom is negatively impacted by speech/language errors
     
    -esls meeting(s) are held, including parent(s), to determine program eligibility and possible classification
