OUT OF CLASS SUPPORTFor those students receiving Out of Class Support, direct teacher communication is essential. I will be speaking and meeting with mainstreamed teachers on a daily basis. This allows me to understand exactly what is required of the students in each of their classes. Instruction will focus on completing these requirements, developing study and organizational skills, and reviewing or re-teaching concepts from mainstreamed classes.
In addition to support from me, there is also an aide in this support class and in most mainstreamed science and social studies classes. The aides keep in contact with me as to how the students are progressing and tell me anything else I need to know about the class expectations. Their support is invaluable.
To ensure success for the students, Out of Class Support instruction becomes a strong triangle between teacher, student , and parent. I will assist in getting the students organized and prepared with their work. I will also re-teach any skills needed and help them plan out long range assignments. The students need to carry out the responsibilities of getting their work done on time and to the best of their ability. As the parents, I ask that you reinforce the importance of being a responsible student to your children.
