    Print the page, complete the problems, and bring it into your teacher tomorrow. 
     
    Language Arts Assignment: Read a text you have at home (10-15 minutes).  It can be a fictional story, nonfiction book, magazine, or news article (like Time for Kids).
     
    -If you read a fictional text, please answer the following question using iRACE.  
     Choose one character trait to describe your character.  Be sure to explain why that word is the best choice.  
     
    -If you read a nonfictional text, please answer the following question using iRACE.  
     What is the main idea of the text.  Support it with evidence.   
     
    You can answer the question in your reading notebook, on a separate sheet of paper, or choose to type it.  Hand it into your teacher tomorrow.  
     
     
    Science Assignment: Simple Machine House Hunt - grab a piece of paper and a pencil! Walk around your house and look for the six simple machines we learned about (wheel and axle, pulley, screw, lever, wedge, and inclined plane). Make a list of the simple machines you find and what job they make easier for you! Be ready to share your findings at school!
     
    Bring in your Simple Machine House Hunt paper to share with your teacher and the class.

    Day 2

    Math Assignment: It’s  time for a shape hunt!  Grab a paper and pencil.  Look around your house and find three objects for each shape listed below.  Draw and label the object.  Count the sides and angles for each object.  Bring your paper in when you come back to school to share with your teacher and class:

    ·  square, rectangle, and triangle

    Next, cut out three squares, three rectangles, and three triangles.  Glue them together to make a creative picture.  

     
    Language Arts Assignment: Begin writing a narrative story.  It can be a personal narrative about something that you experienced or it can be realistic fiction that you create.  Remember to include all of the author skills we have learned so far this year.  Reread it to check for punctuation, capital letters and spelling.  It should be at least 1 page.  
     
    You can write it in your writer's notebook, on a separate sheet of paper, or choose to type it.  Pictures/Illustrations are optional.  Hand it into your teacher tomorrow.   
     

    Science Assignment: Think and write: How do simple machines help you throughout your day?  List at least four simple machines that you use on a daily basis.  Include how each one helps you.  Bring your paper in when you come back to school to share with your teacher and class.
