• Sight Words

Your child is learning strategies to help him or her become more familiar with sight words, also referred to as high frequency words.  These are words that children encounter very frequently in reading and writing.  Examples of these words are: there, when, said, are, and, because.

You can help your child practice these important words.  Each week, your child will be sent home with five new sight words on index cards. These cards should be added to their Sight Word Book.  These words should be reviewed daily.  The goal is for your child to be able to both read and spell the sight words.

Thank you for helping your child become an enthusiastic and successful reader and writer.

    Happy word learning!
